Sammy's night two at Knoxville - By Bobby Gerould - August 12, 2010 - Knoxville, IA. ...Sammy Swindell was momentarily passed by Donny Schatz Thursday night in the second preliminary event of the 50th annual Knoxville Nationals. However, Swindell made a couple of amazing moves in traffic to distance himself from Schatz and ultimately win the 25-lap feature. Swindell seemingly could operate any where he wanted to on the 1/2-mile clay oval. He collected $12,000 for the win. Schatz drove the waning stages of the race with a right rear tire that was losing air pressure. He nursed his car to a fifth place finish - with the tire popping just after he took the checkered flag. Brian Brown drove a fantastic race to finish second followed by Skip Jackson, and Stevie Smith. ...Paul McMahan rebounded from a heat race flip (after popping a tire) to transfer through the B-main and then drive from 21st to 7th in the A-Main. ...Steve Kinser paced time trials over the 50-car field. "The King" ripped the track in 15.239 seconds.
