Haulmark All Star Sprint Ohio SpeedweekLimaland Motorsports Park – Fri.

ALLENTOWN, OH  Before Friday night, many fans in attendance at

Limaland Motorsports Park had only read about Tim Kaeding in the racing

papers. Well, those fans found out he was for real as the California driver led all 30 laps in the Haulmark All Star sprint car Ohio Speedweek feature. It was race six of the 22nd annual Ohio Outlaw Sprint Speedweek and it was Kaeding’s first career All Star win in the Beef Packer’s No. 83JR Eagle Chassis with Wesmar power. Local favorite Greg Wilson pulled close several times in lapped traffic but could never mount a serious challenge to Kaeding.

“We talked about tying the left side of the car down a little bit to go through the rough stuff and when we got into lapped traffic we picked our spots and kept the momentum up,” was how Kaeding described his race. “It was great for the H&R Cattle team. We struggled the last couple nights and this was just fun tonight. This is a blast.”

It was an all California front row for the start with Kaeding and Randy Hannagan leading the field. Kaeding rocketed out to the lead at the start with third starter Wilson taking second in the Bob Hampshire machine and Tim Hunter third ahead of Hannagan. Kaeding pushed out to a half straightaway lead as the battle heated up for second between Wilson and All Star points leader Chad Kemenah. Kemenah dove low under Wilson to grab second on lap ten, then the red flag came out when fourth place runner Hunter hit the wall and flipped in turn three. Kelly Kinser, running 11th at this point, also

went pitside with mechanical problems under the red.

When the green came back out, it was Kaeding again on top with Wilson and Kemenah battling furiously for second. Kemenah ran second ahead of Wilson until lap 17 when Wilson went high off turn four to grab the runnerup spot.

After Kemenah battled back for second again, Wilson took back the spot on lap 20 with Haudenschild now challenging Kemenah for third. Wilson was closing on the leader in lapped traffic and closed to within two car lengths of Kaeding. Just as Wilson appeared to be able to make a move for the lead, heavy lapped traffic killed his momentum. Meanwhile, Haudenschild and Blaney both got past Kemenah. With two laps to go, Todd Kane and Jesse Hockett made contact, with Hockett stopping on the backstretch with front end damage. This set up a two lap dash to the checkered and $5,000.

The partisan crowd was rooting for Wilson, but Kaeding rode the cushion home for the win. Wilson rode home second with Haudenschild crossing third and Blaney was fourth. John Ivy started tenth and was fifth at the end and Kemenah faded to sixth. Hannagan was seventh and Danny Smith eighth. Smith flipped after the checkered as he ran into a Jan Howard and Robbie Farr collision in turn one. Dean Jacobs was ninth and Paul May tenth.

The Crown Battery heat fell to Smith, the B&B Products heat went to Phil Gressman, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Todd Kane and the TP Wings heat fell to Jeremy Campbell. Wilson captured the Haulmark Dash and Kemenah was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier and also won the University of Northwestern Ohio B Main. Bill Rose flipped hard in the first heat. He was out for the rest of the evening.
