Lasoski Dominates Front Row Challenge

By Brian Liskai

(Aug. 8, 2005) - Danny Lasoski wanted to make it a great weekend for his car owner Tony Stewart, who a day earlier had won the NASCAR race at Indianapolis. "The Dude from
Dover" took the win in the Musco Lighting Front Row Challenge at Southern Iowa Speedway Monday as Stewart looked on.

"It's always good to come back to Southeran
Iowa in front of these great fans. We didn't get to take the Front Row Challenge this year, but hopefully Terry (McCarl) and Bob (McCroskey) will have us back next year and we can take the challenge and give the fans their money's worth," said Lasoski beside his Bass Pro Shops sprinter. "Tony did a hell of a job at Indy and we just wanted to keep the ball rolling."

Daryn Pittman jumped into the lead from his outside front row starting spot, with Lasoski and Tim Kaeding, who rocketed around five cars on the first lap. The leaders hit lapped traffic by lap six with Lasoski and Kaeding closing on Pittman.

Lasoski used the low groove to slide around Pittman on lap nine and never looked back. Meanwhile, Pittman and Kaeding raced each other hard for second, with Kaeding taking the runner-up spot on lap 12. With 10 laps to go, Lasoski had built a commanding lead with Kaeding and Pittman still racing each other hard for second.

At the checkered, Lasoski was nine car lengths ahead of Kaeding, Pittman, Greg Hodnett, Ricky Logan, Jason Sides, Kerry Madsen, Roger Crockett, Erin Crocker, and Skip Jackson.

"I got a good run on that first lap. I thought I had a shot at Danny in lapped traffic, but we got kind of bogged down," said Kaeding of his second place run. "I'm ready to go have some fun at
Knoxville."

Monroe, Michigan's Jeremy Campbell, the 2004 All Star Circuit of Champion's Rookie of the Year, outdualed Daryn Pittman in the "King of the Hill Dash" final to earn the pole position. Campbell accepted the Front Row Challenge and elected to start tail in the feature for a chance to win $50,000.

"It's tough out here...there are some great cars here tonight. But, my car's great and the motor is taking off great. Let's do it. Let's go for it," said
Campbell after asking the huge crowd for their input on accepting the challenge.

Campbell would come from the tail to finish 15th and earn KSE Steering Hard Charger award.
