Pittman’s perfect 40 laps lands Gold Cup – By Troy Veneziano – September 9, 2006 – Chico, CA. …Daryn Pittman powered his way to the lead on the first lap of the finale of the Gold Cup Race of Champions and led all 40 laps to pick up the $50,000 winner’s check.

Jac Haudenschild in the Wright One Construction Maxim made a late charge on the high side of the track and finished in the second spot. Haudenschild powered off the fourth turn and corralled the car to cross the finish line just behind Pittman.

Pittman started second in the Titan Garages & Carports Maxim and used the high side to his advantage as he muscled his way past Jason Solwold. Pittman withstood a few late restarts that had Craig Dollansky and Haudenschild on his bumper.

Dollansky in the Karavan Trailers Maxim finished third, after battling Pittman for the lead early in the race.

Danny Lasoski was fourth in the Roth Motorsports Eagle, with Paul McMahan rounding out the top-five in the Bass Pro Shops Eagle.

The rest of the top 10 was Bud Kaeding in the Al’s Roofing Supply Maxim in sixth. Justin Henderson aboard the Jolt Energy Gum Schnee was seventh. Donny Schatz used a provisional and worked his way from the 25th starting spot to finish 8th  in the Parker Store J&J. Brooke Tatnell was ninth in the Race Outfitters Eagle. Chad Kemenah was 10th in the Underground Utilities Inc. Eagle.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Series returns to action on Sept. 15 at Eagle Raceway for the 1/3-mile Short Track Nationals.
