Benny Moon
Benny Moon sets track record … wins race - The August 20th USAC Ford Focus Midget race was just another venue in which Benny Moon proved he can win in any type of car, on any kind of track. At the high banked ¼ mile asphalt oval in Stockton, California, Moon set the track record at 13.820 and won the race. The evening's event was a hurricane of activity with aggressive racing, wild passes and a few wrecks coming from the blown motor of series points leader Alex Harris. With the standard six-car invert in USAC's oval track series, Moon started sixth in the 30-lap feature. Moon's toughest competitor for the win, was his teammate, Jace Meier, who finished a close second. Both Meier and Moon drive for the Ron Sutton's Winner's Circle driver development team. Moon is well known as a Kart Racing Champion and CART/Champ Car Formula Dodge Scholarship Winner. In the 2004 Skip Barber National Championship Formula Dodge road racing series, Benny won three poles and four features in 14 races. That was road racing in formula type cars. Now he's turning left on ovals in the USAC Ford Focus Midget series on paved ovals. He has two wins, four poles, a track record and seven top-fives out of the nine races he has run. Moon, of Shingle Springs, California was selected by Ron Sutton's Winner's Circle career development race team and is a hot prospect of pro racing teams. Ron Sutton's Winner's Circle is a race team that scouts for young talent in kart racing. Once chosen, through a series of interviews and drivers tests, this team develops young drivers onto pro racing careers. The RSWC operation consists of a multi-driver kart race team, four-car USAC Ford Focus Midget oval track race team and a three-car Formula Ford road race team.
