Kevin Swindell surprises Charlotte fans with big win, earns RRS points - By Tony Veneziano, WoO Sprint Series PR Director – May 24, 2006 Concord, NC—Kevin Swindell has been in victory lane many times at World of Outlaws races. Most of those times he was helping his father Sammy celebrate one of his many victories in his storied career. On Wednesday night at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway, the 17-year old won his first career World of Outlaws Feature event, leading all 25 laps in the Eckerd Outlaw Showdown, matching his father who won the inaugural World of Outlaws event at the track in 2000. Though he was out front for all the laps, Swindell was challenged many times by Chad Kemenah, who finished in the second spot. In traffic Kemenah closed on Swindell and made a couple of attempts to get closer, but a late caution allowed Swindell to restart with a clean track in front of him. The youngster was a master of restarts all night, and pulled away and extended his lead in the waning laps. Brooke Tatnell caught Kemenah in traffic late in the race, and was challenging for the runner-up spot, and settled for a second place run. For Tatnell it was his sixth top-five finish of the year. Tim Shaffer in his first start filling in for the injured Terry McCarl came home fourth, after starting ninth. Donny Schatz rounded out the top five. (Summary)
