Running - Lap 72 - RED FLAG - No injuries. Defending USAC Silver Crown Champion Paul White flipped on the front chute of the Phoenix International mile, skidding on his rollcage all the way into turn one. White popped right out of the car, okay.
Running order after 72 laps: 1. Dave Steele, 2. P.J. Jones, 3. Jay Drake, 4. Ed Carpenter, 5. Jason McCord.
Three yellows, and red so far.
On a lap 40 restart, leader Dave Steele was penalized for picking up the pace too soon. He was moved back a position but has since reclaimed the lead.
