14 WELD RACING SILVER CROWN DATES ANNOUNCED FOR 2004
The 2004 USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series will include no less than 14 events, including three not in the 2003 schedule. Returning to the calendar are the Milwaukee Mile in Milwaukee, Wisc. and the Memphis Motorsports Park in Memphis, Tenn., as well as the popular "4-Crown Nationals" at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The Milwaukee race will be the first for Silver Crown cars at the famed Wisconsin State Fair Park oval since 1993, while Memphis will be hosting its first Silver Crown race since 2000.
The race at Rossburg, Ohio returns after a one-year hiatus in 2003 to make room for the "Mopar Million Sprint at Eldora." The 2004 campaign opens with the "Copper World Classic" at Phoenix, Ariz. in March and is scheduled to conclude with the "Salt City 100" at Syracuse, N.Y. in October.
In between, traditional events will include the "Hoosier Hundred" at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis in May, the "Sumar Classic" at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track in June, the 100-lapper at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway in June, the Pikes Peak International Raceway USAC "tripleheader" in Colorado in July, the Indianapolis Raceway Park appearance in early-August, the "Tony Bettenhausen 100" at Springfield, Ill. and the 100-miler at Nazareth (Pa.) Speedway later in August, the "Ted Horn 100" at DuQuoin Ill. in September and the "Tulsa 100" in Oklahoma, also in September.
