All-Star Support
The All-Stars will CO-sanction several races with the World of Outlaws this season, including the Knoxville Nationals among others. This move is great for sprint car racing as it guarantees a stout field of cars at big races.

Steve Kinser Dominates Sedalia Main Event By Richard Day SEDALIA, MO (April 11) – Steve Kinser continued to prove he’s an ageless champion Friday at Sedalia’s State Fair Speedway, leading all 25 laps to win the O’Reilly World of Outlaws Series “A” Feature. The $10,000 victory, Kinser’s fourth of the season, pushed him to within six points of leader Danny Lasoski in the standings. “The Dude,” who won the series championship in 2001, was a straightaway behind when “The King of the Outlaws” took the checkered flag. “I didn’t really know where Danny was, but I knew I really didn’t want to get down off the cushion,” Kinser said. “This track is so much about momentum, and the cushion was really just a big curb up there. You really had to just wait on it and be careful where you pick up the throttle. This is a new car we just put together. We figured it was time to put the old one up and try this one out.”
Kinser’s son, Kraig, paced the 32-car qualifying session and won the First Dash Race for the right to start the “A” Feature on the front row next to his father. “It was pretty special to start along side Kraig tonight,” Steve said. “It won’t be long before he’s here (in victory lane) and I’m back there watching. If we were running around in the middle of the pack and not really doing anything, we’d probably just quit. But, as long as I’m winning, well, I guess I’ll just keep on racing.” “The King of the Outlaws” drove his #11 Quaker State Maxim into the lead as the green flag fell in the main event. Lasoski, who has won two of the series’ last four races at Sedalia’s State Fair Speedway, passed Kraig in the low groove between the first and second corners. Former World of Outlaws Gumout Series front-runners Tyler Walker and Shane Stewart collided in the first corner, however, and Justin Henderson hit the retaining wall and flipped trying to avoid them. The red flag fell, nullifying the original start.
Kinser burst into the lead again when the race resumed. “The Dude” took the runner-up spot with an inside move in turn one and Tim Shaffer passed Brian Paulus deep in the fourth corner for seventh place. Shaffer continued his run toward the front the next time around, driving the #83 Beef Packers Eagle past Daryn Pittman and Walker. The leaders were approaching lapped traffic early in the third lap when Second Heat Race winner Jeremy Campbell spun in turn one. Lasoski drove NASCAR Winston Cup champion Tony Stewart’s #20 J.D. Byrider Eagle into the lead on the back straightaway as the green flag replaced the yellow, only to have Kinser race around him high in the fourth corner. Craig Dollansky and Shaffer passed Kraig Kinser for third and fourth place late in lap four.
Walker, who won at Sedalia’s State Fair Speedway last May 10th, drove C&W Motorsports’ #35 Maxim into the low groove between the first and second corners to pass Stewart for sixth place three laps later. Mechanical problems caused Wayne Johnson to stop in turn two early in the eighth lap. Sammy Swindell, who won two “A” Features at Sedalia’s State Fair Speedway in the early 1980s, rode the rim around Stewart in the fourth corner for seventh place four laps later.
Fourth Heat Race winner Brian Brown stopped in the #6 Casey’s General Stores Maxim in turn two early in the 13th lap. Walker took the high line around Shaffer for fourth place during the ensuing restart. Kinser was 20 car-lengths ahead of Lasoski when he entered lapped traffic during lap 17. “The Dude” closed to within eight car-lengths in dense traffic two laps later, only to have “The King of the Outlaws” increase his advantage with a daring move between Campbell and Jac Haudenschild. Dollansky finished in third place, ahead of Walker, Shaffer, Pittman, Swindell, 17th-starting Joey Saldana, Stewart and Donny Schatz. Stewart’s ninth top-10 finish pushed him into a sixth-place tie with Haudenschild in the point standings.
Engine problems in his #15 Parker Stores J&J kept Schatz from taking a qualifying lap. The 1997 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year qualified for the main event by racing into second place from outside the sixth row in the “B” Feature, then passed 14 cars in the “A” Feature. Kraig Kinser set quick time for the first time this season with a 111.421-M.P.H. lap around the semi-banked, ½-mile oval.
