Mike Brecht scratched following warm-ups.
Brian Paulus was running 5th in heat race #2 when he hit the wall exiting turn 2 on the last lap. Paulus coasted to the pit area, and was credited with 10th.
Steve Kinser hit the wall exiting turn 2 at the start of the 3rd heat race, tried to save the car, but spun at the end of the backstretch. Kinser restarted at the tail, and climbed back to a transfer spot.
Kenny Jacobs crossed the line 2nd in heat race #3, but was moved to last after weighing light at the scales.
Kraig Kinser and Randy Hannagan got together on the frontstretch while racing for the final transfer spot in the B-main. Kinser nearly spun, but managed to save the car, though he dropped back in the field. Hannagan dropped out of the event after the contact.
A-main
Lap 1—Jason Johnson got the jump off of turn 4 to take the lead. Donny Schatz got 3rd from Steve Kinser low exiting turn 2
Lap 2—Mark Kinser (started 12th) passed Tim Shaffer for 5th low in 1&2. With 2 laps complete, caution for Jac Haudenschild, who stopped on the backstretch after turning a 360 degree spin in turn 2. Haudenschild restarted at the back of the field
Lap 3—Steve Kinser went low in 1&2, passing Donny Schatz and Stevie Smith and Donny Schatz to take 2nd
Lap 4—Greg Hodnett took 5th from Mark Kinser low exiting turn 2
Lap 5—Steve Kinser took the lead from Jason Johnson on the top exiting turn 4
Lap 8—Traffic. Steve Kinser’s lead 15 carlengths over Jason Johnson
Lap 9—Greg Hodnett went low in 1&2, pulled even with Jason Johnson, but couldn’t get 2nd
Lap 13—Mark Kinser took 4th from Stevie Smith on the top exiting turn 4
Lap 14—Greg Hodnett passed Jason Johnson for 2nd on the top exiting turn 4. With 14 laps complete, caution for Danny Lasoski, who slowed in turn 3 with a flat right rear tire. Lasoski pitted for repairs and restarted, but dropped out of the event soon after.
Lap 15—Mark Kinser got 3rd from Jason Johnson low exiting turn 1
Lap 16—Donny Schatz took 6th from Tyler Walker low exiting turn 2
Lap 17—Jason Meyers and Jim Nier got together in turn 4. Both drivers raced away, but Nier’s steering was broken, and he hit the wall in turn 1 to bring out a caution flag.
Lap 21—Tyler Walker took 6th from Stevie Smith low in 1&2
Lap 30—Red flag for Jac Haudenschild, who was hit by Jason Meyers entering turn 3 and got into the wall and flipped. Haudenschild was uninjured. Under the red flag, Donny Schatz (5th at the time), Tyler Walker (6th at the time), Todd Kane (13th at the time), Kenny Jacobs (14th at the time), Randy Hannagan (15th at the time), Jason Meyers (16th at the time), Sammy Swindell (17th at the time), and Jason Sides (18th at the time) changed right rear tires, and restarted at the back of the field.
Lap 40—Steve Kinser won by a straightaway. Mark Kinser shredded a right rear tire in 3&4, and fell back to 6th at the finish.

Steve Kinser - “I saw the rubber coming off of turn 2 in the 360 race, and I really wanted to put a little harder tire on, but Scott (Gerkin) said that nobody else was going with a harder tire except Jason Johnson, so we stuck with our original game plan, but I was plenty concerned about it. I thought there might be enough left up top that I could get out there and get the lead, and then get back down into the rubber, and that’s what we were able to do. I knew there late in the race that we were going to be pretty close on the tire, but we had enough to get the job done. I really didn’t think anyone could get by me once the rubber was down, and I didn’t even want to run up on any lapped cars—I just tried to keep a distance back and not get into any problems there.”
